Denatured alcohol

Denatured alcohol is a type of ethyl alcohol to which substances have been added to make it unfit for human consumption. It is often used in cosmetics, disinfectants, nail polishes and cleaning products. Adding denaturing agents makes denatured alcohol toxic or unpalatable, to prevent it from being consumed as an alcoholic beverage. Denatured alcohol is used primarily for its antibacterial, antiseptic and solvent properties.
